Let’s begin!
This course is for people who have no or very little knowledge of Russian (i.e. greetings, alphabet). It will equip you with a sound understanding of the main grammar areas, developing essential vocabulary and enabling you to use Russian in simple and familiar everyday situations (i.e. self-introduction, cuisine, directions, shopping, hobbies, daily life, travel, home, and family). This course is designed for those who wish to improve speaking skills and gain more confidence with noun declension, tenses, conjugation of verbs, verb aspect and different sentence structures. Each lesson is planned around an interesting topic and contains a mixture of engaging communicative, listening, reading and writing activities. This course will enable you to gain a better understanding of different grammatical constructions and improve your fluency via reading and discussing modern short stories from popular Russian readers and Internet. You will learn useful vocabulary in a variety of popular topics. Each lesson consists of exercises for consolidation of vocabulary and grammar from the story, engaging communicative activities and listening comprehension. You will learn to express your opinion and formulate questions in a clearer and more efficient way. You will gain more confidence in using verbs with all cases and different sentence structures. For this course I selected grammar points that most learners of Russian find challenging (i.e. verbs of motion, verbs and prepositions with different cases, verb aspect, participles). You will see them in action in both spoken and written language. The course combines all core skills: speaking, reading, listening and writing. It will enable you to expand vocabulary in popular subjects, increase fluency and improve listening skills. Each material comes with a glossary and audio recordings. This course is designed to help lower advanced and advanced-level students to become as fluent as possible in Russian through watching and discussing TV shows, interviews, documentaries and video blogs. Thanks to its growing popularity, the course now has three “seasons” each consisting of 30 lessons. You’ll improve your command of topic-related vocabulary and ability to vary your style according to the situation. You’ll practice your linguistic skills through a variety of engaging activities (debates, games, interviews etc.). Your cultural awareness will be further developed.
