LOWER ADVANCED / ADVANCED

Entry requirements

  • You can  understand the main ideas of non-adapted newspaper and magazine articles
  • You  can follow a TV programme (i.e. interview, debate, documentary) about politics, social issues and culture with relative ease
  • You can discuss and express your opinion with a degree of fluency and spontaneity

This course will enable you to: 

  • Keep your Russian current and “alive”
  • Expand and enrich your vocabulary in a range of popular subjects including politics, social issues, education, technology and environment
  • Improve your listening skills
  • Gain a better understanding of sentence structure and different grammatical constructions
  • Recognise different shades of meaning as well as implicit meaning

Study materials

  • Authentic newspaper articles, video blogs and TV programmes accompanied by a glossary / transcript  
  • Supplementary material with class activities and exercises 

Number of lessons

30 (you can book each set of 10 sessions separately)

Lesson duration

Group lesson: 120 minutes

One-to-one lesson: 90 minutes

Before each lesson

  • You will be expected to watch a short video or read an article which will be emailed to you as an attachment or a link one week in advance.
  • Handouts for each lesson will be emailed to you one week in advance.

In the lesson

  • Q&A session
  • Brief revision of previous lesson(s)
  • Activities for practice and consolidation of  useful grammatical constructions and vocabulary from the video / article
  • Discussions, interviews, role plays, small presentations

After the lesson you will receive (by email)

  • Zoom chat + Lesson notes
  • Materials for the next lesson

How to submit your homework (optional)

  • It can be typed in the email or Word document and then emailed to the teacher
  • You can take a picture of your work and email it to the teacher as an attachment from your phone or computer
